About LCOY
The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) is a
global initiative organized under the
umbrella of YOUNGO, the official youth
constituency of the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Our Mission
LCOY Egypt provides a space for young people to
engage in dialogue, capacity building, and policy
advocacy on climate change.
Each year, the policy recommendations produced by Egyptian youth at LCOY are submitted
to YOUNGO, where they are combined with outcomes from other LCOYs around the world
and presented as a global youth policy demand at the annual UN Climate Change
Conference (COP).
Scopes of LCOY Egypt

The National Journey
LCOY Egypt became a nationwide journey,
spanning five governorates and culminating
in a flagship conference in Cairo.
2017
The First Meeting
Hossam Emam and Abdallah Emad met for the first time at COP24 in Katowice, Poland. They didn’t know each other before, but their shared passion for climate action planted the seeds of a new journey.
2018
The First Meeting
Hossam Emam and Abdallah Emad met for the first time at COP24 in Katowice, Poland. They didn’t know each other before, but their shared passion for climate action planted the seeds of a new journey.
2019
The Collaboration Begins
After a series of virtual meetings, Hossam and Abdallah decided to team up on a project focused on renewable energy solutions for developing countries, aiming to make a tangible impact.
